an old man identified by the German art historian Erwin Panofsky (1892-1968) as the poet Fracastoro holding his poem 'Syphilis sive morbus gallicus'
This work was acquired from the Portland Art museum in 2008

This very handsome country oak press has a sptrepped cornice, with a pair of arched fielded panel doors enclosing a large storage area fitted with original hand carved hooks to the interior. The base having four corresponding arched fielded panels, and provides significant storage, below are three drawers, the cabinet is raised on stile feet. The
