This fully hallmarked Victorian gold locket is crafted in the shape of a shield which conveys the donor's desire to protect the recipient. This splendid pendant locket was assayed* (tested for gold purity*) at Birmingham Assay Office in 1869 (gothic lowercase m). Both sides are embellished with splendid and superbly modelled belts and buckles which symbolize the
