Black underglaze is applied to the unfired ware, then light carving (sgrafitto) reveals the white clay. The piece is then bisque fired and a colored transparent glass is applied and then the piece is fired to cone 6. Dimensions: 5. 5 tall x 5" in diameter. Handmade by Nancy Briggs of Des Moines, Iowa. My wheel thrown pottery currently is made of red earthenware clay accented with a white slip, under glazes
