The front is painted Barn Red then distressed, the back is stained . There is a router spot in the back for hanging. What a great gift for MOM!!! All of our signs are painted, stenciled, sanded and stained by hand. Due to our distressing methods no 2 signs are alike, we use only local pine wood with knots, dings and dents
