This lovely egg cup is a vintage red transferware piece dating to about the 1930's

The plaques foot-rim has holes drilled in (done at time of manufacture as this was intended to hang on the wall) with wire attached for hanging

It looks a little like a plate from the Aesthetic Movement but it is not that old

Marked: Swinnertons Staffordshire England "The Ferry" and incised with the following: Patent Lock Lid 358746

The home was purchased by an ancquanitn and is currently being refurbished. Sadly this is the only piece of the railing fence that wasnt hauled off to the dump.
