WW2 Free France Cross of Lorraine Ring spinner rings Christopher wading across the riverDATE: WW2, c. 1940 An unusual silver and rose gold ring dating from the 1940s. The emblem on the front and shoulders is the Cross of Lorraine, in the case of this ring it represents Free France, the WW2 government in exile led by Charles de Gaulle in resistance to the Axis powers following the fall of France. Although fashioned in precious metals it's quite crudely done, and isn't hallmarked, suggesting is was hand made outside a jewellery workshop
